At the recent Oscars, the red carpet was once again full of sparkling stars and subtle touches of agelessness. The male stars of the Oscars were out in force: aging gracefully but not all were so naturally handsome that they couldn’t benefit from some plastic surgery.

Best Actor Winner Daniel Day Lewis appears to be as yet untouched by the knife. But that doesn’t , “I had my eyes done. Can you tell? I think it’s important to look awake” (read the full story on George Clooney’s Eyelid Surgery). While the jury’s out on whether the charming actor was kidding around, he could do more to enhance his appearance.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul Nassif refuted the blepharoplasty rumors, but made some suggestions. “George Clooney hasn’t had any eye work. George would look great if he had a conservative natural endoscopic brow lift.” Which is an interesting difference from the way plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia feels about Clooney, as he felt that the actor had an eyelid surgery and possibly even a mid-facelift. “Looks pretty consistent with upper and lower blepharoplasty with maybe a little midface work. Some of this midface work can now be done through the lower lid incisions,” says Dr. Di Saia.

Tommy Lee Jones has had a long career in film and the effects of working so much are beginning to show. Make Me Heal notices that the tapestry of lines on Tommy Lee Jones’s face have become increasingly deep and that his eyelids have continued to droop. Dr. Nassif advises, “Facial rejuvenation might be an option for nominee and award-winner Tommy Lee Jones. His heavy eyelid and forehead could be addressed with a blepharoplasty and a browlift.”

For Viggo Mortensen, the strong and masculine actor’s deep lines seem premature and the result of excessive sun-worshipping. Make Me Heal wondered if fillers couldn’t help benefit the talented actor and Dr. Nassif agrees, saying, “wrinkles on best-actor nominee Viggo Mortensen forehead could be easily treated with Botox or other fillers.”

Latin import Javier Bardem is a handsome leading man with a distinctly masculine nose and chin, but doesn’t seem to have had any plastic surgery. As Bardem ages and spends more time in Hollywood, he may want to consider laser skin resurfacing or fillers to help smooth out the lines heavy roles bring about.

Bad Boy Colin Farrell arrived at the Oscars looking as carefully undone as always. But has his look changed over the years as his behavior improves? It may be possible that the actor had a rhinoplasty, as the tip of his nose is more pinched than it used to be. Dr. Nassif agrees, pointing out some tell-tale signs of a nose job. “Colin Farrell possibly had a rhinoplasty based on deep alar creases and a pinched tip.” In the event that a rhinoplasty was done on Colin, the procedure gives the notorious actor a softer look, somewhat out of step with his Alpha-male persona.

Unlike some of the leading women, the men of the Oscars remain relatively plastic surgery-free, with the exception of some minor alterations that help them appear to age well. In the future, Make Me Heal recommends that these actors consider the knife or at least non-surgical treatments such as laser treatments, thermage, and injection fillers like Botox and Juvederm to maintain their good looks.
